If a user has update access to a reporting screen, say the Vendor Trial Balance, what does that allow the user to do?
You really cannot grant update rights (or anything beyond View) to a reporting screen (at least thru the GUI). It can be done in SQL, but provides no functionality.
Only times that elevated rights related to reporting is involved is when there are pre/post processes that run when the report is called, then additional rights need to be granted to those .exes
