Hi Experts,

I wish you a very happier, healthier and more prosperous new year 2021!

We are a early adopter of D365 Project Operation (PO). It is our responsibility, into a project, to create and maintain security roles, permissions and duties for PO environment. If anybody can help me with some help document (any type of document please. Microsoft material, personal blog etc.)  will be a great help. Thanking you all in advance.

Best regards,

Arnab

    Hello Arnab,

Here is a short summary: Account Manager works with opps, quotes and contracts. Project Manager works with projects and approves time entries and expenses. Project Resource submits time entries and expenses, Resource Manager books resources, Project Approver could be used for people who only approve time entries and expenses, Project Billing Administrator marks actuals as ready to invoice and creates invoices, Practice Manager is responsible for the whole running of the business.

Antti Pajunen wrote an article on roles in PSA in 2017 and they have not changed massively since: community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-365-project-service-automation-comparison-of-security-roles.

    I hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Matthew

Hi Matthew, Thank you so much. I must say your answers are very straight forward and to the point, well, helped me indeed.

I was exploring whether we can do any short of modification on the roles and responsibility side alike D365FO. If possible it will be great help. If not we need to figure out some work around.

Example: One PM is responsible for Resource allocation in Denmark and other related responsibility as you have mentioned above. The same person is a LSA in Sweden, here he should not able to approve time-sheet. In this country he is billable to customer, he will have his price. Not sure how to mitigate the same. In D365PO we do not have provision to select multiple role of a Resource for different entity.

    Thanks again.

    Best regards,

    Arnab
