Good morning,
I am currently experiencing an issue with our MRP. When a PO is created through the MRP and the supplier gives us a confirmed delivery date that is far in the future (for example: We have a requested date of December 5th, 2021 and the supplier confirms a delivery date of March 25th, 2022) the MRP will ask us to purchase this item again. In other words, if we do not analyze the MRP carefully, the item will be purchased again and again since the confirmed delivery date is too far in the future.
In our Master plans set-up, in the negative days field, we were suggested to put 365 days to tolerate late deliveries (such as this example). However, it doesn't seem to be working properly.
Can anyone give me input into what I should be looking at? Is there a field I am missing?
Thank you,
Erica Jodoin
Hi Erica,
I would suggest to find a local consultant who can advice you here. There are many parameters in MRP and each small tweak can cause other issues. It would require good understanding of your processes and current setup to give the best recommendation.
Why is there a gap of about 100 days between the requested date and a confirmed date? That is already something that needs some elaboration. If the system calculates something for December 5, do you accept a date about 100 days in the future?
