Send email alerts to multiple users without customization when batch is ended or error

Issue Definition: Customer is using E-Mail alerts for finished and/or failed Batch Jobs. There are 3 users who want to use the E-Mail alerts for a Group of several independent Batch Jobs.
Now they've noticed that only one user is informed. To be more precise there is scenario where user which comes first in the Alphabet gets the mail, and the rest are not.
Users: Burst, Huber, Korda
example 1)
all user activate E-Mail alerts, only Burst receives the mail ([B]urst Comes before [H]uber in alphabet)
example 2)
user Huber and Korda are activating E-Mail alerts, only Huber receives the mail ([H]uber Comes before [K]orda)

You can get AD Distrubution List created from your IT team and assigns that instead of users in your alert setup.

A similar request has been discussed recently about alerting, the recommendation is the same.

Use e-mail distribution lists with dedicated service accounts for running the batches, or for alert subscriptions.

thank you very much vilmos for quick reply, i am just curious why in my scenario emails are chosen to send to the person who comes alphabetically first . any reason for this behavior ?

Most likely a select firstOnly is being called when it is expecting a single e-mail address for the alert setup table, and the index is arranged alphabetically. Or if the list of e-mails is in a Set/Map, it is arranged alphabetically and the first entry is fetched. I did not verify this, but you could easily have a look at it yourself in the source code. Try to debug SysMailer and SysINetMail classes.

thank you vilmos, i have gone through . The list of e-mails are in a map. and map always returns stored elements alphabetically. so finally in the standard when batch job error or ended , then email alert /notification is sent to single user. this is how standard works. correct me if i am wrong.

You may debug it yourself to confirm as suggested above, I cannot comment how standard works without checking.

If I set up alerts, I remember that you could only tick the checkbox to get an e-mail alert, and the address came in from the User Options. I do not recall being able to select multiple e-mail addresses, so I would not expect that you could list more.

As suggested, stick to using distribution lists, which is the correct solution in this case.
