COGS breakdown

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I'm using NAV 2017.

I would like to get a report showing the breakdown of COGS into item cost and all the additional item charges such as freight, customs, duty etc.

I'm able to see the breakdown for each individual item using the item statistics matrix (purch. item charge spec.), but I would like to see this at an aggregate level.

We use FIFO costings.

What's the best way of doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Chloe

Because I want to see the COGS (cost of goods SOLD) at the time we make a sale.

I'm still confused about your solution. Could you give me more detailed steps please?

The proposal I told you should solve that. I don't know why you suddendly ask about sales that nothing related with purchasing, that's why I've asked you that.

No, I don't mean additional costs that the customer pays. I mean costs that get added to the actual cost of the product on our side (not the customer side) and increase the COGS. For example, shipping from the supplier to our warehouse, transfer costs between our different warehouses, customs, duties, some packaging costs. These all have different item charge numbers.

Right now we can only see total COGS - not broken down by the above.

    Thanks again.

Do you mean for example the cost of transport to your customer?

But how do I see the cost for items that have sold?

Sorry for the silly questions, I am new to Nav...

Account solution should be have different purchase accounts for each item charge (or group it deppends of the agreggate) in gen. product posting groups.

Dimensions one, you can create one called something like Item cost type and in item charge asign the value to be inherit.

    Hi thanks for your response!

We have thousands of products so I need an even more aggregate level.

Could you explain how to do it in accounts and dimensions please?

In the matrix you can select multiple products. If you're talking about a more agreggate level should be reflected in accounts and dimensions.
