AX 2009 Sample Data - or getting started tips

I'm new to AX, after using GP years ago (pre-MS) and as a Sage Mas 500 consultant for the last 6 years.  Handwriting on wall says it's time to pick up AX.

But I'm missing some things.  I have no access to the sample data, since I'm not actually a customer or a partner at this point.  I plan to work for a partner at some point, but in this economy, I'm thinking I'll use my slow time to learn the system before I start knocking on their doors!!  But since I'm neither customer nor partner, I can't get the data.  That makes it AWFULLY tough to figure out how this stuff works.

I figured this would be easy, since I know my way around a lot of other systems.  Install, sure, no problem.  Up and running.  Able to set up basic things like items or accounts.  But I can't *do* anything with them -- for example, it looks like POs need to post, but that is disabled.  I'm sure there's some simple setup routine that needs to be done, but I'm having a tough time guessing at what needs to be set up where in order to do that.

Can anyone point me to the sample data, or to a general help or configuration guide?   This system is different, technically, from others I've worked with, and I need to figure out what in the world it needs to move forward!

Thanks!

The AX 2009 Sample Data is in the Microsoft Partner Source, you can create a new company in AX and import the data there.

There is an implementation guide once you download the demo data.

Unfortunately, like I said, I'm not a partner.  I have the MSDN, but since I'm not a partner and not a customer, I can't GET the sample data from there.  :-(

    Hi, https://community.dynamics.com/forums/t/24112.aspx

I am also interested in sample data. I got customer source and got also license from MSDN. I am working on bbayt (shopping Engine for AX).

Can you provide also some information on the cost of a developer license. I want to use AIF, but most likely I therefor need AX+.  Morphx license etc. I got.

In the bottom right of the AX main menu, you will find something like uad, dat, usr etc.

Click dat, you will get a new window titled 'Select Company Account.'

    select CEU and click OK

Thank you. Seems in my production account also this company is present.

Hmm. I am wondering if this can be used for testing purposes also? Acceptance testing: export and import a definition group into it and you have a 'test' environment for testing purposes? However, how to clean in up? Is there a way to empty this DAT company after doing some tests? Or providing data for it as described with the import/export?
