Copying from production instance to sandbox

Posted on by 280

Hi all, I know it is not possible to do a copy from sandbox to production, but maybe it is possible to achieve this by setting production as a sandbox for this purpose. My question is: Is it possible to bring back the status of production to "production" after this minimal copying is complete? Both sandbox and production have no data at the moment, simple customization only.

    Hi,

Of course you can. When you configure or edit an instance, you can switch the instance from:

    •Production to Sandbox

    •Sandbox to Production

    The steps are

1.Browse to the Office 365 admin center and sign in using Office 365 Global administrator credentials.

    2.Click Admin centers > Dynamics 365.

    3.Choose the Instances tab.

4.Select the instance that you want, and then click Edit. If this is a new instance, click Configure.

5.Under Instance type, choose the instance type and then click Next.

6.Review the settings and then click Save.

    Hope it helps.

    BR,

    Judy

    Hi Armine,

You can create an entire copy of an environment (as long as this is in Sandbox).

As long as you have the appropriate licenses, you can convert a Production environment to Sandbox and vice versa.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

Yes it is possible to change a production to sandbox and back to production.

There will be no issues if you do this, consider the 'sandbox' state of an organization like a sort of maintenance state.

If you don't have any additional sandbox licenses, the production organization you changed to sandbox will continue to consume 1 production license, that's the only real catch but, seeing as you intend to change it back, that is also no issue
