Icons and Tooltips on Portal Comments in Dynamics

I can't find any documentation around the icons and tooltips that are used for the Portal Comments in Dynamics. There is an icon that is like a clipboard beside each comment, and then the tool tip either reads "Read Portal Comment" or "Received portal comment" depending on the direction of the comment. It was assumed that "Read portal comment" meant that the comment was opened and read by the user on the portal, but this doesn't seem to be the case as it appears as "Read" instantly before anyone can have a chance to read it. Is there documentation anywhere that explains this?

    Hi,

Can you tell us what Dynamics 365 application this question is related to? There are several different solutions in the Dynamics 365 family, like: Sales, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Operations, and Customer Insights.

Moved the question from the Dynamics 365 General to the Dynamics 365 Customer Service forum. A volunteer on the forum with experience in Customer Service might be able to assist you.

short answer is that none of this can be customized.  I'm from the original portals team at adxstudio, so yeah, I have to take ownership of this product gap.  It's one of the few things microsoft hasn't gotten around to improving / rebuilding from the ADX days.

In terms of the confusions around "Read" Dynamics / Power Pages does not track whether a portal user actually read the comment. It's a product gap.

If you need real read receipts, you'd have to build something custom such as:

    • Portal event logging
    • Comment view tracking
    • Dataverse table for comment views

    So basically,

Received Portal Comment = Someone on the Portal left a comment.  That what that means.

Read Portal Comment = someone in Dynamics created the comment and marked it to be visible on the portal. (with *WEB* or whatever)

And the icons and stuff can't be configured, as far as i know.  I'd suggest a custom implementation if you need something better.

    I hope this helps?
