Prevent cdsusermanagement from updating Address1_Telephone1 on the systemuser entity table

We somewhat recently migrated to the cloud from on perm. It was noticed that cdsusermanagement updated Address1_Telephone1 with blank data for many systemusers. Found out this happened because the BusinessPhones is blank in active directory. I should be able to restore most if not all numbers backups and updating via API. Is there any way I can prevent cdsusermanagement  from updating Address1_Telephone1?

If I can't disable the updates cdsusermanagement does on Address1_Telephone1, I will most likely go with adding custom attribute. Then update things that pulled Address1_Telephone1 to use the new attribute instead. That way I know the syncs from cdsusermanagement  will not be an issue processes going forward.

Did not find a way around cdsusermanagement updating Address1_Telephone1 to empty string/null so went with creating a separate custom field.
