How to do DB Synchronization in UAT

Hi All,

We need to perform DB Synchronization in UAT.

We have customized display method fields on PO form, which were working fine with existing data, we have moved the code to UAT, there is it not working.

We refreshed DEV with UAT DB, and post Full built with Sync it was not working as UAT. we did only Full DB sync then it was showing the values as expected.

Please advise how we can perform the DB Synchronization in UAT.

A DB sync is done automatically as a part of the process of applying a deployable package.

Also, changing code in methods is not related to DB synchronization. What is synchronize to database is database schema, such as tables and views, not X++ code.

You did not tell us the error you got when you pushed the data back to DEV.

Hi Martin, Those are calculated fields , which we're not working when have refreshed db from UAT to DEV, but when we did full DB sync then it worked. No errors during Full built and DB sync.

Hi Komi,

There were no errors but calculations are getting wrong, not as per the code, but when we did the full DB sync then it shows and calculated as per the code.

What exactly you mean by "calculated fields"? If they're "customized display methods", then what I told you is correct - display methods are not synchronized to database and running DB sync have no impact on them. It could, though, influence something that the method use.

What exactly do you mean by "calculations are getting wrong"? If you have methods that don't return what you expect and you have no idea why, use the debugger to information about what's happing inside them.

Hi Martin,

Post full db sync we are not able to see wrong calculations, we cannot debug now as the values are coming as expected. That's the reason we wanted to try full DB synch in UAT as well.

Calculations are to display total open amount, total receipted amount.

No problem. Simply restore the database again and do the debugging (although restoring the DB without DB sync isn't a good process). Also, think about your deployment strategy. If object IDs aren't guaranteed to be identical in UAT and DEV (which usually isn't the case), restore both AxDB and the modelstore database. Make sure that you don't have any pending changes in DEV before doing it.

By the way, I asked you some questions because the answers could help us to solve you problem. Consider once more whether you don't want to answer them.
