Logic behind raw material location reservations

Hi All,

I'm trying to understand how AX (2012 R3 CU8 - Advanced warehousing) selects a location for reservation.......... The scenario:

We use batch controlled raw materials and a given batch could be held in multiple locations, say LOC A1, A2, B3.

Works orders are set to reserve on release and I want the reservation to take place in location order (as well as batch FEFO, which it is doing) i.e. A1 first, A2 second, B3 third, but AX seems to have a mind of it's own and reserves stock against A2

All the locations have the same Location profile id (not that i think this matters from a reservation point of view just a picking one)

Can someone please explain a)why AX does this, and b) is there a way to force the reservations to happen in a logical location order?

Thanks
