What change to Live AX requires server restart

1.Please can any one help me to understand what type of change to Live AX will require restart of the server  for the change to take effect?

2. When I restrict a user's privilege from Full control to No access,  the user is still able to  carry out the duty on which the permission has been restricted to no access. I eventually  had to remove the privilege . This is when the user didn't have the privilege anymore. However, when the privilege was removed from that duty, I noticed that other Roles that have a duty that has that privilege don't have the privilege anymore. It means when the privilege was removed from a duty it affected other  roles that has the privilege on the duty .

What can I do to restate this privilege. I tried to create another when system indicated one already exist and is in AOT . So didn't allow me to create another one, and I have unable to restate the removed one .

Please help.

It would be hard to cover all scenarios in a post.

Generally speaking a restart is a good idea in case you make any changes to any AOT objects, especially ones that can be compiled into .Net CIL, so the application net assembly DLL files would get refreshed when the AOS starts. Same case with adding or changing labels.

You should not do any modifications to the AOT at all in Production (or security object changes through the UI, since those act as AOT changes on the Security node). You must follow the Microsoft Best practice on deployments between environments, via doing an AX ModelStore release from a build/staging environment.

    Hi Vilmos,

    Thanks for your response.

I actually made changes to the security privilege via the client interface. From you explanation it appears changes to Security roles, priviledges etc via the Client has effect on the AOT. Then what changes can be done on the Client interface that will not affect the AOT. Thanks

Assignment of security roles to specific users or groups are data changes in tables for example. Editing roles/duties/privileges does impact AOT.
