You can't create a Manufacturing Order Receipt for this Manufacturing Order Because Its Status Is Not.......

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi:

You don’t have to necessarily be a Manufacturing expert to address this concern.  But, in GP Manufacturing, an end user is getting the following error message:  You can't create a Manufacturing Order Receipt for this Manufacturing Order Because Its Status Is Not Released, Partially Received, or Complete.

Truthfully, that makes sense as the MO Activity inquiry window shows that indeed a GP user closed it.  Regardless, the finished good is a serialized item and there are nine serial numbers located at the same bin.  The client has been able to transact a quantity seven of these to customers with no issues and a quantity of twos remain in inventory in a bin location.

Here's the crux of the issue is.  She is wondering why the quantity is in inventory.

I may be looking at this too simplistically.  But, I don’t understand why she is wondering why there are still serialized items in inventory for this finished good.  When you manufacture a finished good and not all of its quantity is sold, are you not going to have quantity in inventory for this finished good?

Does anyone have any insights to share with me, as to where the concern lies?

Thank you!  Much appreciated!

John

If the reconcile did not remove it, they will need to do a negative inventory adjustment to remove it.

    Hi Becky:

The end user says that Inventory Reconcile did not resolve this issue.

    Do you have any thoughts?

    Thank you, so much!

    Hi Becky:

I just got off of the phone with the end user.  Apparently, the information originally given to me was not complete.

It's not the finished good serialized items that she says shows the wrong quantities in GP - it's one of the unserialized components of that finished good!  :)

That component is showing a quantity of 9 in Item Maintenance and should not be, according to the end user.

So, I advised to run Item Reconcile on that one item, once everyone is not busy and is logged out of GP.  She is going to let me know how this goes.

    Hello John,

I would make sure the user is not having issues removing the last 2 from inventory. Why did they only transact out some of this bad adjustment and not all of it?

    Good Morning, Becky!

It's always great to bump into you, out here in cyberspace!  :)

What you said does make sense.  But, here's my ignorance.  If you manufacture and only sell some of the quantities, why would an end user be concerned or "surprised" that there is still quantity in inventory?  I feel like she is asking to fix something that isn't broken.

    Where is my "disconnect"?

    Hello John,

Thank you for using Community Forums.

Yes, when you manufacture and serialized item and they are not all sold, you will have remaining quantities.

I am thinking her issue may have been a failed MO receipt. The receipt successfully updated inventory but it did not update the MFG tables. The user then closed the MO.

If you want to see where the quantities are from, go to Inquiry | Inventory | Receipts. Enter your item and locate the remaining two quantities. Drilldown on the Receipt Number and Quantity Sold links to see where the quantities originated from and what sold it.

Let me know if you have any questions.
