Hi all!

I have created a button to one of my entities. All works fine. Now, i need to add this button to another entity. Whats the best practice to add one button to two entities? I'm using Ribbon Workbench.

Thank you

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Oscar,

I believe the best way is to do exactly same steps when you configured your button in first entity.

Internally, the RibbonXml (which contains the button definition) is stored per entity, so whatever you do you will have 2 separate copies of the button. You have 2 main options:

    1. Create the button separately for each entity in Ribbon Workbench
    2. Create a solution that contains both entities and export it as unmanaged, then:
      1. Unzip the file
      2. Open customizations.xml in a text editor
      3. Copy the Xml under <RibbonDiffXml> from the entity with the button
      4. Do a find and replace in the copied Xml to replace the entity name with that of the second entity (the key part is for Location attribute)
      5. Paste the Xml under <RibbonDiffXml> for the 2nd entity
      6. Zip up all files
      7. Reimport the solution

Option 2 gets a bit more complicated if you have other custom buttons for either entity. Also, keep the original solution so that you can reimport it to undo changes if you make a mistake
