Hi,

We are looking to install AX 2012 R3 on a new hardware that will have SQL server standard edition 2022 and Windows server 2022. Will it work. The idea to keep the AX setup as a legacy system. The database size is 2TB. Please guide.

Hi Manish,

SQL Server 2017 is also not supported. You can download the latest available Dynamics AX 2012 System Requirements to check for compatible software. As mentioned below, it might work, but there is no guarantee.

Hi Andre,

Thanks for the clarification. We have already migrated to D365, however, we wish to keep the AX 2012 R3 setup as a legacy system for old data. In this case we wish to move the AX setup from cloud to on-premise servers to save cost.

Is there a possibility that we restore the database on SQL 2017 standard edition version from Sql enterprise 2 core.

Hi Manish,

SQL server 2022 and Windows server 2022 are not supported by Microsoft. Maybe it will work, but Microsoft did not perform a compatibility check as Dynamics AX 2012 is out of support. It will be recommended to upgrade to Dynamics 365.
