Passing a variable to Customer Voice to prefill some fields

Hello,

We use a help desk system that has a unique request ID for each incident, I want to use Customer voice to fill in a specific survey related to each Request ID. Since the Request ID continues on changing, I would want to pass the request ID variable from our help desk system to the survey form.

I’ve tried multiple things including” https://ecv.microsoft.com/knb3St94f5&ctx={“Request ID”:”The request ID I want to pass”} but none worked. is it possible to pass this via the URL?

    HI Danash,

Can you drop an email to customervoice@microsoft.com so that we can review your issue and schedule a call as needed to investigate this with you ?

    Thanks

    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,

Thanks for this. I did ensure the parameter is defined but when I use the link to pass the RequestID, it just keeps on giving me an error saying something went wrong "Some of your changes were not saved. Please check your network connection or try again later."

    The form is saved though.

The link works fine if I remove the "&ctx={“RequestID”:”1111”}" bit

Any idea what is preventing from working?

    Hi Danash,

Yes, you the above should pass the Request ID context variable. Few things to note is that you should first declare the variable in the survey from the Customization --> Personalization option. Next, there should not be any space between the variable names you are defining i.e. it should be RequestID one word, Finally (optional step), you can choose to use the variable with in the survey in the question text.

The syntax you have to pass the variable is correct.
