Hi, the default setting allows negative inventory, if you want to prevent the Negative Inventory, you can select the Prevent Negative Inventory check box on the General FastTab on the Inventory Setup page.
Please refer to the old thread:

If you un-check to prevent negative posting from Inventory posting setup then you can post even you have zero on hand quantity.

No you can't. The Prevent Negative Inventory function does not affect Production Orders.

You can't go negative when you are using Production Orders, its blocked by the system.

    Hi,

Why are you trying to post the consumption when you have zero quantity on hand? If we know the exact reason, maybe we can suggest a solution because you can't post negative entries even though you have enabled the prevent negative inventory function.

    BR,
    Yasas.

Valentin is right. You won't consume for production if there is zero quantity on the production site. say you manufacturing at location A which has no inventory, but location B has. You need to make transfer from B to A to consume.
Not sure why you need it, but negative inventory is not recommended for most of cases not to mention production.

    Hope it helps.
