Schedule Work Order for more than one day in the Schedule Board

When scheduling a resource to work on a Work Order I cannot find a way to automatically split the WO duration in open hours of the Resource calendar. I.E. A resource has a calendar for normal work 8 hours per day. The WO duration is 24 hours. Is there a way to have the Bookable Resource Booking made to the open hourds of the calendar? Instead of having all 24 hours booked on the same day they should be planned over 3 days.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Gunnar

I'm not sure if that is entirely possible.

But what you could do is create the original work order and then create follow up work orders for the next days?

I did a brief test of this a while back and used multiple bookings for same work order. The work order stayed at open scheduled after the first booking was marked complete. The work order changed to complete after last booking was complete. Not sure if that was coincidental though as status was changed on the schedule board for the first booking and on the app for the last.

I don't think it would be to difficult to create multiple bookings with a plugin based on duration!

Thanks for quick response. I will consider this solution. Since my client doesn't have WO for less time than one day, this will create lots of WOs. As we are integrating with ERP there should be a one-to-one relation with the WO enity in ERP and CRM.

Not sure of your business model have you looked at Dynamics Project?

I have also made some tests using multiple Bookings on a WO and I had the same experience managing the statuses. So this might be a solution to build on. It appears there is no setting in a resource calendar or else where to divide the WO duration into open work hours. Understanding that is also a progress..

    Thanks antc and Thomas

The system can create multiple bookings for you when you use the Book button on a Resource Requirement/WO. The arrow below indicates the option for how to handle this.

Can you talk a little more about the issue you are having handling multiple BRBs and statuses?

    Thanks all for input.

Jon, that is how I also finally solved the issue.

Here is a step-by-step procedure in the schedule board:

    a. Highlight the unscheduled Work Order.

    b. Highlight the resource.

    c. Book with the correct Start Date and End Date.

    d. Front load or Distribute evenly

    e. Book

Note! If DateWindow Start Date and Date Window End are eneterd on the WO they will be inserted in the "Book screen".

I found out that Drag-and-drop doesn't Always give you the desired booking result. I guess some issues can be managed in Booking Rules though.

Hi Jon, Do you mean to say that while creating a booking if we select "Distribute evenly" it will distribute the works hours into multi days? Let's say WO is for 30 hours then when I go ahead and try to schedule a WO ( start date 10/2/2017 - end date 10/2/2017), distribute evenly then it will automatically create three bookings and when the last booking is marked as complete then WO will be completed? or Do I need to pick start date 10/2/2017, end date 10/4/2017 and say distribute evenly then it will create 3 bookings?
