Calculation of Depreciation Amount is not coonsidering existing depreciation amount if there is Revaluation entry on FA Transactions

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Dear Support,

I have a scenarion below:

Service life for the asset is 48 months.

when i calculate depreciation using Depreciation proposal, the amount of depreciation calculated is 322,916 that comes from 15,500,000/48.

I think the correct based amount for calculate depreciation is 15,000,000 instead of 15,500,000 because Net book value is 15,000,000.

any could tell me whether this is a bug?

Thanks,

Yohana

    Dear Ludwig,

    What is the amount of your 3rd depreciation? 322,916

    Is this the amount that you expect to see? No

    What are the remaining depreciation periods that you see? Should be 46, right? yes

    What depreciation method have you setup in the depreciation profile that is linked to your fixed asset? Is this straight line or straight line remaining? Straight line Service life.

    after i switched to Service life remaining, i got depreciation amount i expected, that is 15.000.000/46.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Yohana

    Irrespective of what you selected can you try switching it to see if this makes a difference?

    That is, if you have straight line setup change it to straight line remaining or vice versa and see what influence this has on the depreciation amount.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Sorry, this is the scenario:

    Acquisition    = 12,000,000

    1st Depreciation  = 250,000

    2nd Depreciation  = 250,000

    Revaluation   = 3,500,000
