Can we move a project to a different PA contract?

We have 2 projects in a contract that do not belong to that contract. They are both closed and contain only historical data and will have no activity. I would like to remove them from that particular contract and have them in new contracts. By leaving them in the current contract, their historical transactions are being pulled into our current reporting. Thoughts on how to do this? Thank you!

    Hi Lou,

There is no way to achieve this in GP... you need to use your SQL script magic toolbox to do that... There used to be some scripts around which was allowing to rename a contract linked with a project, but I can't find them right now..

I've built my own SQL scripts that update a bunch of PA tables in GP... but I agree that it's very specific. There are at least a dozen tables that you need to update to reflect the 'move'... it could be way more if you want to change also the historical data (> 20 tables).

    Lou,

I digged a little bit in the community postings and found an old reply from Mark Polino of last year :

    community.dynamics.com/.../weekly-dynamic-changer-scripts-for-project-accounting.aspx

One thing that I noticed from the Readme.txt that's provided with the scripts, is that this will not allow your to 'merge' records... only rename them... So you'll likely be out of luck with this one. But I'd still try them out on a TEST company for example to see how they would behave..

    Good luck.
