Carry forward budget in project accounting

Posted on by 520

Hi,

I want to carry forward the budget from previous years to future years in Project accounting.

I perform the carry forward budget under Project accounting>>Periodic>>Budgets>>Carry forward budget.

I click retrieve selected budget and specify the specific project and click Process.

In clicking the Process button, I receive a message stating that "Retrieve the budgets that you want to include in the year-end budget process, and then process the remaining budget amounts"

What does this mean?

Pls help.

thank you.

    Hello marypeace,

For a total budget control there is nothing that needs to be carried forward in my opinion.

In case you really want to try / use it, have a look at the following site:

    Hello marypeace,

If your budget control is based on the total budget then I wouldn't know what should be carried forward.

The budget control will be done on the total budgeted amount specified and I don't see the necessity to carry something forward here.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

The project usually run up to 3 years.

The company is a non-profit organization.

The budget checking is based on Total budget at project level.

The budget is pegged for year 2018 only and not allocated per month.

The company is not using ledger budget.

Is there a need to carry forward the budget from previous year to next year?

    Pls advise.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hello marypeace,

Why is it that you want to carry forward a budget?

Can you let us know how you setup the budget configuration at the project level and can you let us know whether you use the ledger budget functionality in addition?

How long are your projects running usually?

Is this a public sector company?

Would be great if you could provide us some feedback on those questions.

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig
