Hi,

I need to know how to enable inventory dimensions on the BOM lines form. Is this configured in the Product/Storage/Tracking dimension groups?

    Hi,

You can click the menu button Inventory and then choose Dimensions display. Then you can select which field to show on the grid.

    Hi André

Yes, I know how to do this, the thing is the fields are not enabled for edition and I don't know why

Ah. Misunderstood the question. Read again and now better noticed the word Tracking dimensions. On the BOM lines you can't specify e.g. a serial number or batch. These are transaction specific and usually not part of a BOM configuration.

OK, but it is possible to specify Warehouse and Location, right? Do yoy know where can I enable these dimensions for the BOM lines?

Yes the dimensions like Warehouse and color can be part of the BOM. First check if the product or storage dimension related to the item has the dimensions enabled.

You mean the checkbox in the Storage dimension group? If that is the case, yes, Warehouse is checked as Active; Primary stocking is not checked tough...could that be the problem?

Personally I don't think that primary is related.  But you can give it a try. I'm currently not able to check an AX version for some other options as it is late in my time zone.

No they should be there as standard (site and warehouse). It is not possible to enter tracking relations in the BOM Line, the reason you can see them is that this is a common form but you cannot say use serial number "x" on the BOM, you do this on the consumption. If you want to drive the worker there you add it to the ProdBOM on the works order, there is little point of entering this in the static BOM as it changes.

OK, thanks Steven. Now my question is why can't I enable Warehouse field for edition in the BOM line's inventory dimensions tab? Is it because of item configuration? Or is there something I'm missing?

The only time you cannot add warehouse to the BOM line is in reality if you do not have warehouse configured in the dimension group of the component.

However if you are looking at the demo data this can be misleading because of the way it is hacked in, I would recommend creating a new BOM if you are in a test system and then see if the warehouse can be selected, it might be you can for "New" ones.
