Data entity export with label name

(0) ShareShare

Hello:

I'm building a data entity to export purchase order details. I'd like to be able to show the label name rather than the field names if that's possible. Thanks!

I have the same question (0)

Please give us more information. Which place are you talking about when mentioning "showing field names"?

    Hi Ichiban,

When you are using the data entity wizard, there is an option called Convert labels to field names. Have you tried that option already? Note that it will remove spaces from the labels. E.g. "Is invoiced" will be converted to "IsInvoiced".

    Hi Martin,

Apologies. I meant when I use the entity in an export project via data management. I'm hoping to be able to dump data out so I can pass it on to business users without having to rename field headings so they make sense. Thank you!

    Hi Andre,

I did notice that option but obviously did not use it. Since you didn't offer it as a possible 'fix', I assume once the entity is created the 'convert labels to field names' option is no longer available. I've checked my entity properties and didn't see find it either. Thank you for your reply!

    Hi Ichiban,

If you have an existing data entity, then indeed there is no option to use the wizard. Or you have to consider start from scratch or create a "V2" version. If there are not that many fields, you can also consider changing them manually.

    Hi Andre,

I just realized I could go into the entity fields, rename them to a convention (w/o spaces) which makes sense, and they flow in the output as expected. I was curious if there are any potential impacts outside of existing DM jobs which I haven't considered? Thank you.

    Hi Ichiban,

There might be only an impact if some integrations or automations already depend on the old technical entity field names. Otherwise, it should work without issues.
