Hi Everyone,
As far as I know the security in Dynamics CRM is based on the owner of a record (Owner / BU of Owner / Organization of Owner) based on the security roles that are set and how they are setup.
I have a contract in CRM and I want to give another user access to this contract by making him the owner. This way he can see the contract. But whenever I try to change the owner I get the error below. I think this is because the user does not have access to the contract yet. Which is correct that is the entire reason of making him owner so he gets access to it. What would be the best way to give this user access to this contract?
I am trying to change the owner with an account that is system administrator.
Below the error I get:
Error code: 0x80040299
Thanks I double checked and the users indeed was lacking the security role that gives user level access to the contract entity. I added him the the correct security group and then I was able to change the owner.
Hello,
Through the security roles give a user privileges for your entity with the "user" level at least. If a user doesn't have at least user privileges for that entity you won't be able to reassign that record to that user.
