CRM 2013 / 2015 On-premise compatibility with Exchange Online

Hello everyone.

Currently in the company we have two installations of CRM 2013 - 2015 On-Premise.

We have been looking for information on the compatility of managing mails with Exchnge Online and modern authentication.

On the net the information is very diverse, some say that it is possible through E-Mail Router and/or SSS. But we did not find a document, blog, Microsoft publication that confirms or disproves it.

Could someone from the community provide us with an official link?

So we can make the decision to migrate to the cloud version.
