side-by-side assembly execution - bindingRedirect

I have a model that accesses an external component.  I want to make sure my model is consuming the bits from the version of the external product I am working with.  I am finding that when I attempt to access the objects through a proxy and call a method on a class, I am hitting the rwong version of the dll I have included in my model. I there anyway to add a bindindRedirect to try to force the correct version? If so, how is this accomplished?

I greatly appreciate any tips -

<bindingRedirect oldVersion=/7.0.0.0/ newVersion=/8.0.0.0/ />
</dependentAssembly>
