Hi All ,

We have almost 44 FA groups and 4800 individual assets , need to calculate the depreciation on monthly basis for Current layer and Tax layer for all 2800 Assets.

I would like to know the what is best to do depreciation for all assets in Ax 2012 R2 ?

Could you all share your ideas or thoughts how do you follow in your implementation ?

    Hi axerp,

    I have seen once a customer using around 65000 assets and per asset 4 value models. This was doable, but took some time to generate depreciation and then posting.

    In you case you will need at least two journals. Per posting layer you have to generate the depreciations in a journal. You can create more journals (e.g. per asset group), but that will only take more manual interactions.

    Hi AXERP,

    My previous reply mentioned to generate the depreciation in a journal. Do you need to do something special per group? Or are you looking for some reporting?

    Hi AXERP,

    Not sure if that is what you're looking for but when you're Inside a journal, FA or GL, I mean in the lines form, look for the "proposal" menu item atop the form and select Depreciation porposal.  Form there you can determine criteria  to select the FAs for which the depreciation amount will be proposed and the date upto which the depreciation will be proposed.  If your FAs and their value models are configured properly, the correct depreciation amount will be proposed.
