Hi everyone.

I am starting a Project Operations implementation and this is my first time working with this Dynamics product. Are there any tips, things to consider, or easy mistakes to make that you have experienced when configuring project operations?

I have the same question (0)

Any Tips for Project Operations Implementation?
    Hello,

We are in the midst of the implementation and its a fairly large implementation.
Is this a green field implementation or you have some processess and application already in place and you are wanting to implement this solution?

We are doing this phase wise. We had to mgrate 3000+ active projects. Our project managers would be 1500+ and 20000+ project team members

    You need to figure out
1> What is chaging for the Project Manager
2> What is changing for the project team members
3> What are the dashboards required on Day 1?
4> How will you manage change.

While most of the features are default, there are cetain boundary condtions that you would want be be known upfront: This can hurt if you have missed facotoring

2> Is power automate the right choice or explore azure functions? Requests limits and allocations - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

If there is going to be data migration, how are you to manage downtime during cutover is also something that needs to be planned and executed in parallel

hopefully you would have made the choice by now :) Wishing a successful implementation.

    Cheers.

    Vijay

    Hi Nathan,

Have you previously worked on any Project Specific Modules? Such as PSA or PMA in FO?

If yes, you can take that as base to start configuration.

If No, I would suggest to start thinking from Project Manager's perspective.

There is no hardcore rule, In my case I am following procedure to start configuration:

    1. Business Unit as base configuration

    2. Sales Configuration to complete lead to quote functionality

    3. Resource Specific configuration, specially sales prices and availability

    4. Project Specific Configuration such as categories, invoice frequencies and rest of the parameters.

I hope this might help you.

    Thanks,

RE: Any Tips for Project Operations Implementation?

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me! We know we are doing a lite deployment already. I have been going through the learning paths and am already familiar with deploying other Dynamics 365 products such as Sales. So it was more of a general questions about Project Operations and some of the different things to consider with the specific product in your experience from previous implementations.

    Hi Nathan,

Which environment you are starting to configure?

Project Operation? If yes, which type of deployment you are looking for is the main question.

There are three types of Project deployment:

    1. Project Operation Lite deployment - deal to pro forma invoicing

    2. Project Operations for resource/non-stocked scenarios

    3. Project Operations for stocked/production order scenarios

you can learn more about this in the following document:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../determine-deployment-type

I would suggest you to start using learning document for more understanding of system.

    learn.microsoft.com/.../

Please let us know if this helps.

    Thanks,
