Production Floor Report Scrap on last operation – Serial number entered but posting fails

Hi everyone,

We are experiencing a specific issue in the Production Floor Execution (PFE) interface when reporting scrap on the last operation for an item managed by serial number.

Observed behavior:

  • The PFE prompts the operator to enter the serial number → the operator fills it in correctlyWhen confirming, the posting fails with the following error: "T
  • Production - Report as finishedProduction: OF000256 Posting - Report as finished journal Journal: PJL000002120 The report as finished line LOT 003-005125 for the tracked item 710.05 must have tracking dimension/s specified.
  • When the same Report Scrap is done directly from the RAF journal (Production control > Journals > Report as finished), no error — it works perfectly.

Questions:

  • Has anyone encountered this behavior with a serialized item when reporting scrap from the PFE?

Current workaround: post directly from the RAF journal, but this is not practical for shop floor operators.

Thanks in advance!

The issue was caused by the "Enable tracked components" parameter under Inventory management > Setup > Inventory and warehouse management parameters > Bills of materials > Tracking.

Disabling it resolved the Report Scrap posting error from the PFE for serial-tracked items — the tracking dimension validation on the scrap line is no longer triggered, and the posting now goes through directly from the Production Floor Execution interface.

Note: This is a global parameter, so only disable it if component traceability (genealogy / item tracing) is not required in your scenario.

Hope this helps anyone facing the same issue!
