Unit conversion of sales order to purchase order

Hi

We have a conversion working that coverts 25kg bags to tonnes and it's price is by the tonne

So if I have a suggested order of 100 25kg bags when the purchase order is generated it shows as 2.5t at the tonne price

But if I have a sales order for a 100 25kg bags and generate a direct to customer purchase order the purchase order shows 100 25kg bags but the price is correct to 2.5t

Is there away to get the direct to customer purchase to show 2.5t rather than 100 25kg bags?

    Hi Harold,

Can you elaborate on the "conversion working"? Is this a customization? If so, also the process to create the direct delivery should be customized to handle your conversions.

No it's not a customisation it's all in standard AX

We've set it up when creating the product

I.e. setup the purchase order unit by the tonne, purchase price unit by the tonne then setup the sales order unit by 25kg bag, sales price unit by the tonne and then just used the standard conversion between the two

Thanks. I think I understand it now. The normal purchasing unit is in tons but it was now created as 25kg bag. This is standard as you are using direct delivery. If you use e.g. master planning it will convert it and use tons. You can consider a customization to manage the unit of measure for direct deliveries.

I thought it did this and had a look, if you create a purchase order (which comes to you) from the sales order it will do it, the direct delivery uses the same unit as the sales unit. This then bypasses the TA potentially setup in the same UOM. I would like to argue they should work the same if the relationship exists, but clearly it has been developed not to do this. You could try loading a request with MS and see where it gets you, but it would be easier to customize it to copy the same UOM logic as the purchase order I would guess.
