Workflow infrastructure configuration in D365 Talent/D365 Human resources?

I'm setting up a workflow in D365 HR, and I noticed that it wasn't running. I checked my batch jobs for workflow message processing and I figured it was stuck and decided to recreate it.

I deleted the Workflow message processing batch job and I was hoping I could recreate it in the Workflow infrastructure configuration feature----just like in D365 FO, but I couldn't find it.

How do you create a new workflow batch job in D365 HR? I did some digging and I could not find an article about it.

I appreciate responses. Thank you!

    Hi Kristina,

You can try to manually recreate the batch job and related task. The class name to be used for the task is: SysWorkflowMessageQueueManager

    Hi Andre,

Thank you for your response. I've also thought about doing it manually. Do you know if there is any particular reason why this is manual in D365 HR, unlike in D365 Finance?

    Hi Kristina,

It is assumed that Human Resources is a full SaaS based offering; then the workflow should just work without any additional setup. In fact, deleting the batch job shouldn't be possible then.

Next to that, the F&O core HR was initially used for this app. As there is now a model driven architecture, all main required models were used. Probably, the workflow configuration wizard is in another model or it has been decided to not implement this feature in HR.

But to be honest, this is guessing. Microsoft did the design and made the choices.

Thank you for the insight, Andre. This makes a lot of sense.

Good thing the batch jobs can be created manually or else the issue would be a dead end. Hope that Microsoft could eventually provide an official documentation regarding this.
