Navision Data center Move

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi team , i have a odd question. I have a client who is wanting to move their whole Nav 2013 from one data center to a whole new data center. This means a whole new rebuild of Nav in the new data center. Would it be advisable to rebuild the SQL server and then backup the old DB and re-install Nav and restore the backup SQL DB  on the new datacenter setup. What would i need to watch out for and what could go wrong ?

Normally you will not have any issue as long as  you don't downgrade your sql server.

Do a test run, if everything is okay, you should be good to go.

Make sure the SQL version is the same or check the compatibility if you move to a different version, create a test database first using production backup and make sure everything is working, before you do the final backup and switch the SQL server.
