Hi Community,
We've recently had a database refresh and I am finding when I try to create a new configuration in Electronic reporting, I am not able to Complete the Draft.
Is there a process which needs to be done in ER after a DB refresh?
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
see like you need to import the ER configurations again
pls suggest
Hi Rahul,
Thanks for the help. I also tried to re-import the configurations again and still get the same issues.
Do we need to do this every time we do a refresh? seems like if we UAT the ER then we can't trust it will work when we go live.
Hi Mark,
Did you tried to import the configuration again from LCS depository/XMl file to the application. When we do DB refresh it is known issue that incompatible version of reporting between source and target environments.
BTW This error is very generic, it could be because of environment issue, incompatiblity, function or anything that has not been initialized properly.
Junaid-
Thanks Junaid! I think that got me a bit further.
I reimported from the repository and rebased the configuration but now i get this error
Changing version statusAn error occurred during the request of file: 'ERCoveringLetter.xlsx'.
Hello Mark,
Did you follow the steps and the setups described on this site:
docs.microsoft.com/.../er-backup-storage-templates
This should help you overcoming the issue.
Best regards,
Ludwig
also there is place to recover templates in org admin or sys admin module
pls suggest if our responses helped
Thanks Ludwig! I tried restoring broken templates and rebuilding table reference but doesn't seem to make much difference.
Still get the error: Changing version status An error occurred during the request of file: 'ERCoveringLetter.xlsx'.
Hi Mark,Thank you for using Dynamics 365 Finance Communities.
When doing a data restore, the attachments are not copied over to the new environment.
You can find more information on this through the article links below as well as the suggestions to resolve the issue in the next article link as well.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/database/database-refresh
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/analytics/er-backup-storage-templates
Once you have setup the Parameter Automatically run the procedure of restoring the broken templates in batch parameter is set to On, please help to ensure that you have cleaned up the existing configuration and reimport them again.
If there are custom xmls, please help to ensure that you export these out first in xml format prior to the clean up to create a copy of the template prior to deleting the old configurations.
Please also help to mark the thread as answered if your queries are answered as well.

As Marian mentioned, the setup and configuration needs to be done before the refresh.
Do you have the time and capacity to do a new refresh with the changed setup?
Hi Marian and Ludwig,
Thank you both for your sage advice!
I don't have the capacity today but I will try and remove the whole setup and follow your instructions.
Will let everyone know how I go
