Requisition Web Client vendor lookup

Hi

All my users that have access only with the web client to create a requisition have a problem when they try to find a vendor. They can access the search but when they try to select a criteria to search by, it tells them they don't have the security privileges

Looking with the dexsql, it seems to be the vendor_lookup or ASI_Explorer_Fields but I can't find them in the security tasks.

Anyone know how to fix this ?

Thanks

    Hello,

Which security role have you assigned the users? It could be the Role does not allow the users to access the (Smartlist) lookup for the vendors. You can try and assign them the generic 'ESS Purchase Requestor' role and see if that resolves the issue.

    I do!

This plagued me for weeks during our upgrade and would have been a huge issue.  Our MS Partners weren't even sure if it was possible, but here is the solution (note:  This solution is for advanced vendors AND item searches):

    1. Create a new security task with these self service tasks included:

    Product:  Microsoft Dynamics GP
    Type: Window
    Series: Purchasing and Inventory
    User Type: Self Service
Tasks: Vendor (from purchasing) and Items (from Inventory)

    2. Assign the new task to a security role (I made a new role for this) and assign that role to the Self Service end user

    2. The end user logs into the web client, starts a requisitions, and opens the advanced search feature from the requisition entry screen via the binoculars icon (but still cannot use the magnifying glass to "lookup" a field - this is expected).

    3. The end user CAN, however, type the field name he/she want to search on into the search definition 1 column name field manually (such as "Vendor ID" or "Vendor Name", then click the tab key at which point the filter becomes available along with the value field to type in.  When I click OK the search works as expected!

Note: you might be able to default the definition fields to a predetermined selection (Vendor ID, Vendor Name AND Item Number, Item description for example) to make this more user friendly for end users - but I have NOT tested that far.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

PS: Shouldn't it be easier than this or at least have documentation available somewhere?  I find the lack of documentation on the entire web client/requisitions piece to be ridiculous given that this is coming from a company like Microsoft.  Oh well - hope this works for you and saves some headaches!

Hi Peter, the ESS Purchare requestor is already assigned, the problem is that the Columns that I need to display the smartlist for the vendor lookup is not available for self service. If you look in the DEFAULTUSER role in Smartlist / Window / System  'Columns' is only available for full or limited user, not self service and that's my problem.

Since it doesn't seem that a solution exists I am reverting to use the GP view instead of Smartlist for those users until it is added or GP2016 fixes this.

Hi DDussault - Read my above reply - with the right security tasks the end user can manually type the field name into the box and click "tab" on the keyboard (rather than using the lookup field) - it's not user friendly but it works.

tried it, works like you said, I am talking with my GP partner to see if we could force the Vendor Name to be there automatically to ease the process a little bit
