One Item 2 cartons. how to setup?

Not sure if this is the best forum to ask questions related to warehouse in D365 Business Central.
I am using advanced warehouse management.

I recently purchased some items that have 2 cartons for each single sell Item.  They will always be sold together.

What is the best way to inventory them? I have looked into Assembly to order.  Not sure this is the best, or only way to be able to track 2 seperate cartons so we can pick/ship.

We also need to be from Sales Order or the Warehouse shipment ability to see quickly the carton size/weight so we can use for booking freight shipments with carriers.

Any recommendations of different solutions within BC out of the box, or  extensions that provide the solution(s)?

You can manage items with multiple cartons in Business Central by using **Units of Measure**. Set up a **Base Unit of Measure** for the item (e.g., "Each") and define an additional unit like "Carton" with a conversion factor of 2. This allows the system to recognize that each item consists of two cartons while maintaining inventory accuracy.

For tracking carton size and weight in **Sales Orders** or **Warehouse Shipments**, you can use **Item Attributes** or **Custom Fields** to store dimensions. If you need more flexibility, consider using **License Plate Tracking**, which helps manage multiple cartons under a single item.

Maybe this will give you a hint to resolve your issue. If this helps, please mark this answer as verified.

If you want it to be automatic, only Assembly Order can do it.
If you add it manually, you can add these two cartons manually each time
In addition, you can enter the length, width and height in Item Units of Measure.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Assembly is normally used for kitting but see if this or Item UOM is solving your case or else feel free to articulate it in some examples to understand it better.
