When an Outlook user moves a CRM Appointment to another calendar, CRM doesn't get the information and the CRM/Outlook link is lost.
Below, an detailed example with 2 Outlook users: Jane and John. We work with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2016 Update 1 version (8.1.0.360).

Question : Does someone faced this limitation and found a trick to avoid it?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In Outlook, Jeanne creates 1 meeting in her calendar

In Outlook, Jeanne tracks this meeting in CRM

In Outlook, Jeanne move the appointment to John’s calendar (and change the day)

In Outlook, John sees the meeting in his calendar. The meeting appears to stay tracked.

But in CRM, nothing has changed

Why ?

2 CRM fields must change in CRM to move the appointment from Jeanne -> John’s calendar

  • the ‘owner’ field
but the ‘owner ‘ field is not sync between Outlook and CRM

  • the ‘organizer’ field
This field is sync but Outlook does not change the organizer when moving from 1 calendar to another

    Hi Stephan

Although CRM Tracking is Bi directional, the General rule is that CRM Web App is the Master that defines the appointments to Track to Outlook allowing you to view it in Outlook, manually updating the Appointment in Outlook may possibly Untrack the Appointment from CRM

    Hello Raz,

    Thanks for your reply.

    Regarding the Untrack

This concerns me, I did not know about it. I have never met it on the field. I tried to reproduce it without success. Maybe because we only work with CRM Online + Exchange Online + Server Side Sync.

    Regarding the problem I described

I'm not agree with you. Either we give the CRM information to users in Outlook, either not. But if given access to CRM information in Outlook, the user expects it to work.

I understand that the functional problem I described is not easy to correct but this is a common operation for an average Outlook user.

With the increasing expansion of CRM to Outlook (Field Services, Project Management), this correction will become essential !

    Regards, Stéphane
