Using a new 'survey' as a Reminder?

Doesn't look like posts get much traction here and I haven't really thought this through but would appreciate any input at all!

I deal with fairly small volumes but still in the 10s of thousands: I'm currently sending reminders through Power Automate 'Send an Email'/ Shared Mailbox step and wondering if it's harming Sender Reputation and have to watch my API and exchange limits too.

Was wondering if any major drawbacks I'm missing to using a 'dummy' survey as a reminder each time so that I'm still cashing in on the D365 Marketing service.

  • Create a new Survey (clearly flagged as Reminder), add a variable called OGSurveyURL
  • Create the email template with my reminder text and REMOVE the default Survey URL links from email body, insert my variable instead
  • Create an instant Power Automate that is filtered to Survey Invites of original survey that are Sent or Read; get the email address and OGSurveyURL values from here
  • Send Survey Invites (Customer Voice Action step) for new Reminder Survey using new Reminder Template

Come up with the below, that I think are all manageable for my personal use case:

  • Haven't tried this so don't know that you can successfully entirely remove the current Survey URL from the email template
  • Won't know from OG survey invite records who has and hasn't received a Reminder (low impact for me as it's all or nothing, plus no different from as-is); or be able to track reminder effectiveness - can't anyway as no inbuilt reminder functionality
  • Won't impact licensing bundles as no one will be able to submit a response for the Reminder dummy survey
  • Won't impact reporting as make sure filter out these Reminder surveys and related records from any reporting
  • If creating the all the new records is a data issue/ enough to affect storage costs, consider deletion job

This is an innovative solution for reminders. Our team has also been trying to do reminders. You could do all this, and then tomorrow MSFT could offer something out of the box, that is your risk.

Everything seems doable, but I am not sure about the most critical one "Haven't tried this so don't know that you can successfully entirely remove the current Survey URL from the email template". If you are able to do that, please post an update here. :)
