Best way to create reports - future proof :-)

ReportReport

Hi guys,

I find it a bit confusing which path to follow for creating printable reports from Dynamics. In spite of the strengths of PowerBI, it doesn't seem to have a solution for printable reports (like invoices etc.), which customers "still" need! At the same time SQL Reporting Services doesn't seem to enjoy the same status any more, as I have to create these reports from VS 2015 (no updates). I am keen to know the best solution for generating printable reports, preferably without extra costs.

Thanks.

    Hi Symira,

You can Create or edit a report using the Report Wizard, then you can print the report you created.

You can refer following link to know detailed steps.

Create or edit a report using the Report Wizard (Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises)) | Microsoft Docs

But ‘reports’ entity not show in the page of dynamics directly, you can go it through ‘Advanced Find’ button.

Or you can add ‘reports’ entity to site map of apps directly.

Then you can create report as steps i provided above.

    Hi Leah Ju,

    Thanks.

I did check the documentation link you shared. The first line itself says that you can generate reports only in landscape format. I presume that implicitly hints towards a specific type of reports eg. Lists or dashboard kind of reports. I don't think that would be suitable for generating printable reports like invoices.  Here a shapshot:

    Any views?
