Do Team Members have access to Field services?

Hi guys.

What are really the opportunities for a Team Member in Dynamics 365?

I have read they have read access in most of the apps in Dynamics 365? They can also report time and expenses, take out a few reports ( If I'm not mistaken? ).

Since the cost difference is so huge between Enterprise and Team Member, what are the difference in functionality? I know that Microsoft are some what unsure With Team Member and access to Field Services.. But have they figured it out?

    Hi Neil.

    Thank you for your reply. Our customer will go through the functionality around Team Member soon ( mainly in AX). If they want to try out the other apps in Dynamics 365, i.e Field services, they need a full License as you said or buying the Field Service app

    Thank you for your reply. Then I think the answer is to buy the Field Service app if customers need access to this app. Team Member won't be enough.

    As described you do need an Enterprise App license (Field Service) or an Enterprise Plan 1 (or plan 2) license to use the full capabilities of Field Service.

    Users would have read-only access to Field Service entities using the Enterprise Team Member license. So reporting is possible with a Team member license.

    You can record time and expenses with a Team Member license. (And apply to join projects.) Whilst this does have implications for Field Service I think it probably mainly applies to a Project Service situation.

    The reason I say this is that whilst you can update this information with the Team Member license you cannot use the Field Service mobile application without a full license. (The RESCO Client) And I don't think you can update work orders with a team member license which would typically be needed, for example to mark work as completed. Assuming, you'll want to use the RESCO client for Field workers (which would be typical) then they would need a full license.

    You can't say that there is a cost difference between Enterprise and Team member, because you're comparing apples and oranges.

    One option for you is buying Team Members Enterprise edition license. It's not either Team Member or Enterprise, it's the Team member license of the Enterprise edition. You're right that it gives you read access and "light use" to all Enterprise apps, including Field services.

    Your second option is buying the Field Service app, which gives you access to all functionality of Field Service. I don't know its functionality, so I can't comment on it.

    And your third option is buying a plan (Plan 1 or Plan 2), which includes the Field Service app.

    I know it doesn't answer your question, but it least make clear which options you have.
