Hello,

After the upgrade to Dynamic 365, the global search is not working,

Search is throwing an error "Query Builder Error" as soon as I hit the search button.

Could you please help to find out the reason?

Thanks,

Tvin

    Hi,

I am working at a Dynamics-customer. We got the same problem since upgrading from "CRM Dynamics 2015" to "Dynamics 365" (On-Prem).

It is related to fields that are not part of the "main"-entity, e.g. we displayed the field "erp_accountnumber" from the "Account"-entity in the Quick-Find view from the "Opportunity"-Entity (so all the fields that automatically display the name of the other entity in brackets in the view). Of course to remove this field from the Quick-Find-view is no real solution because it would also impact the Quick-Find when the user navigates to Sales -> Opportunity.

Perhaps someone else has a solution or someone from Microsoft can find out. I don't want to open a case for this with Premier Support, because these cases normally take a very long time.

    Regards.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, the problem appeared to be caused by the Quick Find View trying to display results from a related entity. When I removed the columns for displaying a related entity's data from the Quick Find Views, the problem was resolved and the global search starts working fine but that broke the view by removing the related field.

Will raise this issue with Microsoft.

    Regards,

    Tvin

This is a known bug with Dynamics 365 (or known by Microsoft) which they say they will fix towards end of Q2. In the meantime, download the error and it wll tell you which entity(s) have the issue. Usually the Quick Find View for that entity has a lookup to another entity which is what is causing the issue (eg: Contact looking at Account). Once you remove the offending columns, Global Search will work just fine. Just take a note of what you had so you can reverse when this issue is fixed.
