AX 2012 Release product error

I'm working on AX 2012 and I have a product that is released to a company. When I try to release that product to another company an error occurres saying as follow:

One or more products cannot be released. Validate open product releases in the Open product releases form to identify the reason, and try again.

When I got to Open product releases I see the product there and when i open view infolog it says:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Field 'Item number' must be filled in.

The release has been cancelled.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I forgot to mention that in the Open product releases form there is no field to add the item number.

    Hi ZQR,

    please check if you have setup a number sequence for Items in the Inventory menu. (Inventory parameters). AX needs to have the number sequence for items filled. The setting for the number sequence itself can be manual or using an own numbering system.

    If you do have the number sequence setup, then check if it is not exceeding the maximum number value.

    The number sequence of the item was set to manual and I think that is the reason it didn't work. With your suggestion set the number sequence to automatic and I managed to release the product but because the products that I'm trying to release have the item numbers not in sequence, I guess I have to change the next field in number sequence form every time I release a product.

    I am experiencing the same error messages but then in DIXF loading Product, Items then Product Masters.

    When items are loaded the message about Item number comes up then cancelled releasing the product.

    Did the numbersequence solve your problem?

    Yes it did. If, in the company where you are trying to release the product variant, the item number sequence is not set to automatic then you will have that error appear. Setting the number sequence to automatic solved the issue.

    Hi All,

    I am also facing the same error when i am trying to release some products. How to i change above number sequence setup . Kindly advise me ASAP.

    I am using AX 2012 R2, Note :

    I can able to release most of the product without any issues, some of them only throwing the same error.
