Love community,
I got a trial version of 365 and now try to create a schedule with map with test data. But unfortunately it does not work. Is there somewhere a step by step guide for the current version?
Thanks in advance

- tried another browser/clear cache?
- try to create a new schedule board tab by clicking the "+" in the upper right corner of that screen, leave all setting in the popup as they are and hit "Add" at the end of that window.
- I assume you have Sytem Admin security role, right?
Hi moko33,
I have followed all your steps. If I now want to look at the schedule, he is constantly loading and nothing happens...
Hello Alexander Heinze,
probably it became better now but I remember some weeks ago I was struggeling all day long with importing the FS demo data (into a system with Euro as base Currency, later changed to USD). I was really a bit disappointed in the end. The demo data package wasn't compatible with the FS/PSA version.
Now I know there is a new demo data package. Hopefully it became easier.
Also, I think that you're getting some basic demo data already per default now, when setting up a new trial. Which is nice, even if the data is not always related to your region/currency/industry...
Would be great to have a "switch" when setting up a trial, asking you whether you want to have demo data preinstalled or not.
The login issue is caused by TLS, it can be resolved easily by changing some registry keys on your local machine: support.microsoft.com/.../update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-wi
And even if you are supposed to use your own data, I would still import the sample and start from there. Saves you time. Or alternatively - the package has XLS files that you can also use as a basis and modify. 80% of the file will work for you, and 20% you can change easily.
Hey Moko33,
thank u so much for your help! I will try it :)
Here is the official Field Service manual:
docs.microsoft.com/.../overview
If you don't want to install the Demo Data Package you can follow the steps below.
Setup tasks I'm usually doing for testing/demonstration purposes include:
1. Connect to Maps: go to Resouce Scheduling => Settings => Administration. Set the field "Connect to Maps" to Yes.
2. Enable Bing Maps on forms: go to "Dynamics 365 - custom" => Settings => Administration => System Settings. Set "Show Bing Maps on forms" to Yes. Click OK.
3. Create a new Account record where you also enter an address and make sure that the "Latitude" and "Longitude" fields get populated by the system (a popup should appear asking you to confirm the address). Save.
4. Create an Organisation Unit: go to Resouce Scheduling => Settings => Organisation Unit. Click on "+ New". Provide a Name, i.e. "Site xy", click on Tab "Scheduling" provide "Latitude" and "Longitude" which are close to the geo data of the newly created account. (To get this geo data for the Organisation Unit you could have created a second account record and copy & paste the Long./Lat. from there). Save the new Org Unit.
5. Create a new Resource: go to Resouces => Resources: Click on "+ New". Choose your User in the field "User". Go to the tab "Scheduling". Change Start Location and End Location to "Organisation Unit Address". Choose the newly created Organisation Unit in the field "Organisation Unit". Save.
6. Create a Price List: go to Field Service => Settings => Price Lists. Click "+ New". Only provide a Name for the Price List, i.e. "Standard Price List (Euro). That's enough for your demo case. Save.
7. Create a Work Order Type: go to Field Service => Settings => Work Order Types. Click "+ New". Provide a name, i.e. "Repair". Set the field "Taxable" to No. Choose the newly created Price List into the field "Price List".
You now can create your first Work Order: Go to Field Service => Service => Work Orders. Click on "+ New". Choose the newly created Account into the field "Service Account". Choose the newly created Work Order Type into the field "Work Order Type". Save.
Now go to to Field Service => Service => Schedule Board. You should be able to see your newly created Resource at the Board. Now, at the bottom of the Resource list, open the slider "Booking Requirements", there click on the Tab "Unscheduled Work Orders". On the left of the Resource list open the slider "Filter & Map View", there click on "Map View".
As soon as you highlight a Work Order in the "Unscheduled Work Order" List at the bottom, the map on the left should be zooming to the location of the highlighted Work Order.
You can now Drag & Drop the Pin of the Work Order from the Map to your Resouce in the Resource list at an appropriate time window. Or you can darg'n'drop the Work Order directly from the list at the bottom onto the Resource row.
Of course if you're completly new to Field Service it might be reasonable to also take a look at the demo data to get an idea for some of the examples provided there.
However I don't use demo data very much when I set up an new trial and only want to test certain scenarios.
Where can I unblock the dll?
I opened the package deployer where I can connect to my demo version of Dynamics. If I click on login then it will not continue ...
Can you send some details? Have you followed the directions! You may need to unblock the dll in the guide.
when uploading the sample data, there is a problem anyway. If I click on "Login", it will not go on …
