Regarding value missing in email when replying

Hi All

Since moving to Dynamics online, if we open an email the Regarding value is there as expected, however when we click on either 'Reply' or 'Reply All' the email form loads again but without the Regarding value. We only noticed because we have some JavaScript that uses the regardingobjectid and can no longer get this. Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi Martin,

I ran a quick test with this (also Dynamics 365 online) and did not have the issue you described.  I would definitely recommend temporarily disabling all custom JavaScript as this sounds like a possible scripting issue.

Other scenarios I can think of as possibilities:

-Replying user doesn't have Append/Append To privileges

-Field is cleared by a Business Rule

-Maybe some kind of caching issue (would recommend trying in a private browser)

Thanks very much for the reply. I have tried disabling all custom JavaScript (no change), not an issue with privileges (works for same users on old system), no business rules used and also tried in Brave. Still stumped as to why it's happening but it helps to know it should be working, I thought something had maybe changed in online version. Should be able to come up with a workaround, thanks again for the help.

You saying that you moved to Dynamics Online from old version of Dynamic CRM or may be On-premise.

    Try this for troubleshooting

    • Creates a fresh email and set Regarding to something like contact or case.
    • Send this test email, so that reply or reply all becomes enabled.
    • Close the email activity and open up again and try to hit the reply button.
    • Monitor regarding at each step.

If regarding is having no problem with new emails, I suspect something went wrong when doing migration.

Finally figured out the problem. I had a chrome extension that was causing the problem. When I disabled regardingobjectid was there :)
