Dynamic reporting tree to show the unique business units (financial dimension) of any selected company

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello,

We have got several companies, all with unique financial dimension values for Business center (setup via All resources form). I need to build a report/reporting tree in management reporter that allows the user to filter on the business unit for each individual company, based on which company they are logged into.

I am wondering if there might be a way to create a reporting tree for a financial statement that is dynamic and allows us to filter by Business center for the selected company. So if I am in "Company 1" and generate the report, I would like to use the report option "Reporting tree" to be able to apply the business units of Company 1. If I were to generate the same report in Company 2, I would want to be able to apply only the business units specific to Company 2.

Is this possible in some way? What would be the best practice otherwise to meet the requirement of being able to filter for each company's business units (e.g. would you need a separate report tree/report for each company?)

Thanks in advance

Kindly,
O

    Hello Oskar,

Not sure if I fully got your issue.

What comes to my mind is the unit security feature that allows you to filter/restrict units that people can see.

    Please see: dynamicsax-fico.com/.../

Would that help resolving your issue?

    Best regards,

    Hello Ludwig,

Thank you for your response and suggested solution. However I do believe that this would not solve the issue that I am having, at least not based on where I am right now. I will try to explain a bit more in detail.

So we have created a financial statement that can be generated in via the Financial reports form. In addition we want to be able to filter this report to see the transactions and amounts based on a chosen business unit. The reporting tree is just the function we need, so we created a reporting tree and connected it to the financial statement report definition. This reporting tree gives us the result we want, however it only contains the business units of one company "FCC". So no matter what company we enter we can only filter based on the BUs of company FCC - which of course does not work for the other companies. Perhaps this could be solved with the unit security feature, but before applying that we want to be able to add the business units of the other companies so that we can filter the report based on the chosen companies specific business units.

The reporting tree was created by using the "Inserting reporting units from dimensions" function, thus inserting all the business units of FCC (the company from which management reporter was opened). I have subsequently tried opening management reporter from another company and tried the insert function again, and while it adds the business units of the second company (let's call it ACC) it will not allow me to save the report tree as there are conflicting unit names. Both companies have Business unit 1, although they are not the same and have different names.

I want to be able to create a reporting tree that allows me to fetch the business units of whatever company I am logged into when generating a financial statement. Furthermore it would be great if it could be dynamic so that way one would not have to update the reporting tree every time a business unit is added/removed.

    Thanks in advance
