Label text not showing on user interface

Hi,

Dynamics AX 365. I created a label file and used the labels in tables and forms for labels, captions and static text. When I am opening a form (simple list) labels are showing like @XXXXX instead of text. I have done Sync, Build, IIS Reset and AOS restart, but no use. In the development environment when selecting the design of the form and navigating to preview is showing the correct label text.

Can any one suggest how to resolve this.

Thanks

Anil.

    Hi Anil,

If you created your own label file then you cannot simply use

@LabelID like we can use Legacy labels. e.g. @SYS123

You will have to do something like this:

Let us say the File name is ABC.

and in your file you create a label with label id MyLabel.

To set that label onto a field in your table or a form you will have to use it like this

    @ABC:MyLabel

and it is case sensitive so keep that in mind as well.

This should be it but if still it doesn't help please do share more details and screenshots for the steps you've taken and the results you get.

    Hi Zain,

    Thanks for your reply.

The label ids are showing as per the format like @ABC:MyLabelID1

    Thanks

    Anil

That should not happen if the solution was built and synced correctly.

Please make sure your label file is in your project with the other forms.

Rebuild the solution and then right click and sync the project with DB.

If it still doesn't work, Do a full build of your model and a DB sync after that.

    Thank you Zain,

I followed all the suggestions, but it wasn't resolved the issue.

Then, I followed the below steps.

    1. Cleared all labels from the element properties.

    2. Clicked on the Label Editor button on the respective element property.

    3. Typed my label text and clicked on Find button.

    4. Selected the label from the found list.

    5. Clicked on Paste Label button on Label Editor.

    6. Label ID got pasted like @Mylabel1.

    7. Done build and navigated to the form.

    8. Label text appeared instead of Label ID.

    Thanks

    Anil.

    Hi Zain,

I've upgraded the solution from Dynamics AX 2012 R3 to D365 for operation. Since extended solution is the preferred one we had moved all the objects (New objects we didn't have any major customisation as we have developed a new module) including the label file from the Application suite to a new package. Any modifications done to the label IDs in the new package are not getting reflected in the browser but i'm able to view the change in the preview space in Visual studio.

Even when i delete the label file in the new package the label text is seen in the browser. Not sure how the text is fetched from the label ID as the file is deleted. Guess there exists some reference which hasn't been deleted correctly in the Application suite.

I've tried all the above steps including IIS restart and DB synchronisation but the labels are still not updated in the browser. Please suggest.

    Thanks,

    Prithvika

    Hi Prithvika,

Did you try deleting the label file from the model?

    Navigate to

    <Drive>:\AOSService\PackagesLocalDirectory\<YourModel>\AxLabelFile\<Your Label file>

    Thanks

    Anil.

    Hi Anil,

I did delete the label files from the model. The issue got resolved once i deleted the related dll files in the below paths

    <Drive>:\AOSService\PackagesLocalDirectory\ApplicationSuite\Resources

    <Drive>:\AOSService\PackagesLocalDirectory\ApplicationSuite\Resources\<language>

    Thanks,

    Prithvika

I've found if "-" (hyphen) is included in the label file name, labels are shown as you described.

Once I created a label file name without a hyphen, it show up correctly.

    Hi Anil,

If you create a new label file , please do not use @ prefix for LABEL IDs. that makes problem for new created label files. However, If you upgraded your label file from older version of AX, there is no problem you can use label Id with prefix @ and you do not need to define label file name when you use old upgraded label files.

    As summary:

    For new label files:

1- do not use @ on defining Label Id.

    2- Use @LabelFile:LabelId format.

    3- Care case sensitive.

For Old / upgraded label files:

1- You can use @ on defining label files.

2- You just only use labelId @XYZ123 during labeling and no necessary for label file name.

    3- no case sensitive.

Please do IISReset after any change and run sysFlushAOD etc.

I had this same problem. Label like @XXX001:XXX0011 was only displaying @XXX001. I deleted the label file and created one without numbers in the file name such as @XXX:XXX1 and the label displayed correctly. So I deleted the XXX label file and created YYY001 label file. The label @YYY001:YYY0011 only displayed @YYY001 on the form. I deduce that the label file cannot have numbers in the file name.
