Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello everyone,

We have customer in NAV 2015 database with 200+ customized Reports developed and would like to migrate to NAV 2016 latest version.

What should be the estimated efforts for upgrading these reports in NAV 2016? Would it be just simply Import or any other important steps needs to be taken care.

It should be straigh as their is no much architecture level changes which may require any special attention for reports. Just import and resolve any compilation errors.

I have done a exe only upgrade and didn't have to do anything to reports.  You will only have to resolve the compiling issues. To test it just import the report in 2016 and compile them if they compile, you don't have to do anything with them.

Thanks Suresh & Alexander for the reply.

I am also in the same opinion of estimating approx. 40 hours for the overall report migration.

However would still prefer, if someone is having working experience on the same (even from NAV 2013 to latest version) or has some official documentation on the same.

Just wanted to be double sure considering No. of Reports (200 Reports Approx).

I suppose the simple import should cover most of the work. It might be the case that some reports are executing some additional business logic or run specific customized batch processes - this will be good to know in advance. I would check if any documentation for the reports is available. Otherwise, I'd estimate not more than one week of work to testing and verification.

As per my knowledge, you don't need any extra steps to copy over the reports from NAV 2015 to NAV 2016. It should be a straight forward import.  I will estimate around 30-50 hours for debugging and testing purpose or for any issues that may appear after import.
