What does it tell you  when it is rejecting the posting of the journal?

    Hi Becatcho,

With the Weighted average cost model, AX will only look at the Costing version or Cost price on the item master if it does not already know the cost of the item. Typically, if the item is in stock, AX knows the cost price of it.

If you do a count journal for an item which is not in stock, in a Site which has no Costing version, and where the item has no cost price on the item master, then AX will not know the cost of the item. You'll have to enter it manually on the count journal line.

In a test system remove the stock, is the cost used 0?

What is your dimension group set to for financial costing for that item?

Hi Steven I'm using WA "Weighted avg." ,I can see once I have selected site on counting journal cost price is picked up and no matter Qty I update (+/-) system dose not update the cost at all.

    Hi Becatcho,

On the Inventory model group of your items, what is the 'Inventory model' set to?

What is your costing method? Presuming it is not standard then the cost price will be updated when you check the latest cost price which will then be used on your counting journal for positive entries, although for negative entries the cost on the journal is not relevant, AX adjusts the cost as per the costing method on posting.

If the prices are identical then why have Site specific costing?

The maintenance of costs  depends on your costing methodology.

Costing versions apply to standard costs and those are not generally updated by last purchase price.

If the cost is constantly being updated with last purchase then does that need a new costing version each time??
