Financial Dimension and sales order

Hello

When I create a sales order ah have financial dimension values  in the customer setup, these values are filled in sales order header.

after this I create  line to selec the item and these values are filled in the line of sales order accroding wtih the values in header.

My doubt is, if I have a different dmension value in the item setup, the value of the dimesnion in line must be updated with the value of the item setup?

Or the system keep de the value received by the sales order header?

    Hi 365 finance e operation,

    The flow is that the dimensions on the header are defaulted from the customer. Indeed the lines will be initially inherited from the header. When you provide an item ID on the line, only the dimensions from the item which are empty on the line will be filled.

    E.g. Assume you have three dimensions: Department, Cost center, Item group

    On the customer you have the Department and Cost center filled.

    On the item you have the Department and Item group filled.

    Now when creating the sales order, it will take the Department and Cost center from the customer.

    When specifying the item on the line, the dimensions will be merged where only the Item group will be defaulted from the item as the Department already has a value.

    Hello 365 finance e operation,

    In addition to what Andre mentioned, I would recommend doing some testing in a demo/test environment.

    First, with a SO that has different findims assigned to the sales order lines and that has the GL parameter "values used for summary account" set to "source document".

    Second, with a SO that has different findims assigned to the sales order lines and that has the GL parameter "values used for summary account" set to "accounting distribution"

    Comparing those outcomes will give you some additional insights on the findim usage and its impact.
