Master Planning and Quality/Quarantine Order

Hello everyone,

Does master planning include items with a quality order and quarantine order?

For example, if I have a purchase order that has generated a quality order and/or quarantine order through receipt, and this item is included in an open production order (line) and there is nothing in inventory. Will master planning overlook this purchase order because it is under quality control and still suggest a purchase order to fulfill the requirement?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Rolly Rulona

At that point you use the quarantine process and either write the items off, or you move it to a manual inspection warehouse outside of the planning engine, the shortfall in supply will then be rectified at the next planning run. Until you tell AX that the product is useless it cannot react.

    Hello Steven,

In our case, a quarantine order is generated both on purchase receipt.

You are right. It should be considered by master planning. the reason I asked if it is possible for master planning to not consider items with quarantine order placed in a quarantine warehouse is that there are situations where we find product errors which have not been investigated yet if it's the case or just a random occurrence/outlier (as an example). Those products are considerably "useless" at this point which is why master planning should theoretically not consider them and should suggest a need to acquire the quantity necessary to fulfill the demand.

Quarantine is a transitional warehouse, it has an in and an out, it will be going out to the warehouse driving the demand. Quality would be different but it also depends upon the stock status settings. Ultimately it depends "why" these are going into these areas, if it is a standard process at purchase receipt you would always want planning to consider it, otherwise you will be in an endless purchase loop; purchase to demand, goes to quarantine/quality, MRP is run, sees the original demand and can see nothing meeting it because it is in quarantine/quality and orders again............

    Hi André,

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I have tested it. Master planning includes items with either quarantine or quality control as available. I thought it might not include it if I set a check on the parameter "manual" under Warehouses>Master Planning> Item Coverage for the Quarantine Warehouse. I tried different combinations including the latter and checking the warehouse = "Coverage plan by dimension" on the item dimension group. It did not work. I even added the quarantine warehouse on a specific item's coverage setup where I specified it to have manual coverage code. It still did not work.

    Best regards,

    Rolly

AX2009 was the FullScope add-on for Quality orders, or are you referencing a different ISV solution?

    Hi Rolly,

In the product dimension group  of the Item if

option 1: Coverage by Warehouse is unchecked(Only site coverage is checked)then it will consider the stock in Master planning.

option 2:Coverage by warehouse is checked and in the warehouse master -(Master planning tab)-Manual coverage is unchecked then also the stock is  considered during Mater planning.

    Thanks,

    Ganesh

    Hi Rolly,

I'm not sure how the system will look at it. It might also depend on many parameters in the master planning. My idea would be that it should not skip it, because for this reason you can setup a purchase or inventory lead time. I don't have an environment where I can verify this. AX2009 has been a long time ago for me. There are differences in coding and behavior in newer versions.

Did you test it already? If you have issues, can you try to reproduce it in a standard demo environment?
