Copy Tab in contract creation

Posted on by 86
Hi Experts,

I need a Copy Tab in Contract creation with the help of Copy contract we just need to change some basic things like (Price, Qty, Commodity etc ). While creating a contract need a copy button through which the details of that source contract will get copied to new created contract. Can you please tell me how can i do that?

Thanks in advance looking forward to hear from you.

    Hi ax.tech,

I'm not sure if you are referring to project contracts, or a customization. If the table is typed as main (contains master data), you can use record templates to default a lot of values and let the user change some fields based on their own judgement. Have a look at the documentation. You can start here and via the menu read some related articles: Record templates overview - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

In case you would need different behavior, you can have a look at similar functionality in the application, like having template projects or the copy function on sales orders. From there, you can check how this is done technically and apply similar logic in your customization.

    Hi,
Do you just need to copy and modify the data, or do you need a specific user page to display? The solution is not the same in these two cases:
    • If it's just copying and modifying data, you can use a data management framework (DMF) to achieve your goals, and you can copy, modify, or do other things on the records in the data entity.
    • If you need to replicate contract labels through the user interface, there is currently no such out-of-the-box functionality, and you need custom development to achieve your goals.
    Best regards,
    Kevin
